MEET  'THE Marcel'

the Marcel has 8 guest rooms,  - 2 twins, 5 doubles & 1 quadruple   room &  2 duplex flats; each unit coming with its own character. Every room or flat has been named after a famous MARCEL, a MARCEL with clear ties to Argentina.

'MARCEL' in quarantaine

Well before you start your trip to Buenos Aires, you can start dreaming away and enjoy what MARCEL has to offer you.

The pictures in this gallery are just a beginning...

Should you wish some assistance with planning your trip, excursions, a tango show, we're here to assist you.

What MARCEL has on OFFER

Rain or sunshine, there is always something to enjoy  @MARCEL !

cool off in the pool

sun bathing at the terrace

 barbecue with friends

relax during a massage

enjoy a premium wine

What started with a first trip to magical Buenos Aires as an unexperienced tango dancer, soon became a passion.  In 2011 we bought an almost abandoned  1898 'casa chorizo' by famous architect Alejandro Christopherson. After 5 years of 'tramites', - the Argentine word for paperwork & bureaucracy, - and an extensive renovation ,  a dream came true :

Small, elegant & cosy, the boutique hotel MARCEL offers a unique kind of hospitality.

- named after the tank top Marcel Cerdan used to wear and the Belgian brand 'Le Fabuleux Marcel de Bruxelles' - features 9 unique guest rooms and  3 fully furnished flats, an in-house cafeteria & a dining area. Tango, zumba, taekwon-do, ballroom dancing ... can be taken in the MARCELONIOUS,

our space for art, culture, events ... with a fabulous hardwood floor.

The  pool and 2 terraces on the roof offer a welcome refreshment during our warm Summers.

We believe  a healthy mind goes hand in hand with good food. We love to cook, and it shows.

We'll happily cook you a delicious meal, vegan, vegetarian, gluten free...

Where we can we use organic ingredients.

And when I am around there will be homemade sourdough buckwheat bread too...

All of our 8 rooms and 2 flats are named after a famous MARCEL. Each room has its private bathroom with shower, sink and toilet. The furniture is custom made, often with recycled material, the sheets are of plain Belgian linen and organic bio-degradable cotton, the cushions stuffed with buckwheat hulls for a healthy sleep.

All light bulbs are LED, our bath products organic and  the bathrooms come with water saving toilets and taps.

Welcome to the world of

Marceau, Broodthaers, Duchamp, Bich, Breuer, Proust , Pagnol, Rochas,

Cerdan, Jambon

Our standard breakfast, included in most room rates is fresh juice, coffee or tea and medialunas.

We do eggs too.

The happy-breakfast comes with cheese, homemade jams, ham & butter. We are happy to provide vegan and gluten free breakfast too. Ask for our homemade sourdough gf bread !

Airport pick up

Anibal, the taxi driver we work with, will happily pick you up from either airport.

We'll only need your flight details and he will follow up on the rest.

Cafe Notables & Bodegones

Elegant or informal, large or small, impeccable, untidy, messy or of questionable hygiene, the bodegones and bares notables are part of the porteño lifestyle. Within walking distance or a short taxi ride from the hotel are Bar de Cao, Bar Margot, Bodegon Miramar, Cafe de los Angelitos. Our recommendation: Visit at least one !

Great Architecture

I stopped counting the amazing buildings that left me wondering how and why !  If you are into architecture,  don't miss out on the Palacio Barolo, the Cathedral, the Palacio de Aguas Corrientes, the Casa Rosada, the C.C.K. , the Usina del Arte...

The two last ones offer a whole range of free concerts too.

for more info or assistance, ask MARCEL

'Ferias' or Local Markets

What BA is so famous for!  All within easy reach of the hotel are the Feria de Recoleta ( sat & sun ) and the Feria de San Telmo ( sun )

and the bi-weekly ambulant food markets.

Dining & Wining

ICHISOU, considered one of the best Japanese restaurants in Latin America, is only 6 blocks away from the hotel.

The notorious bar notable BAR de CAO  is 10 minutes on foot.  Add another 10 minutes & reach the bodegon MIRAMAR.

Ask us to take you to a milonga &  we'll do. Would you like to take some tango classes, we'll happily guide you through the maze of classes the city has to offer.

Not so much into sporting tango yourself, we'll ship you off to a nice tango show in stead !

Tango classes and milongas
Zumba, ball dance

taekwon-do, workshops, cooking classes ... are just a handful  of the activities organised in the hotel.

We cater weddings and private

parties too.

“Es el mejor hotel donde estuve. Donde se fundan la calidez humana y la privacidad con un estilo de peculiar y exquisita singularidad. El bagaje cultural que ofrece se distingue por los detalles innumerables de la construcción y el mobiliario que junto con la decoración dejan ver que en cada cosa hay una hermosa historia para contar. La hospitalidad manifiesta se acrecienta a lo largo de los días. Tanto que al momento de la salida se hace imposible no estrecharse en un fraterno y conmovedor abrazo. Gracias !
