OUR HISTORY
What started with a first trip to magical Buenos Aires as an unexperienced tango dancer, soon became a passion. In 2011 we bought an almost abandoned 1898 'casa chorizo' by famous architect Alejandro Christopherson. After 5 years of 'tramites', - the Argentine word for paperwork & bureaucracy, - and an extensive renovation , a dream came true :
Small, elegant & cosy, the boutique hotel MARCEL offers a unique kind of hospitality.
WHY MARCEL ?

- named after the tank top Marcel Cerdan used to wear and the Belgian brand 'Le Fabuleux Marcel de Bruxelles' - features 9 unique guest rooms and 3 fully furnished flats, an in-house cafeteria & a dining area. Tango, zumba, taekwon-do, ballroom dancing ... can be taken in the MARCELONIOUS,
our space for art, culture, events ... with a fabulous hardwood floor.
The pool and 2 terraces on the roof offer a welcome refreshment during our warm Summers.

We believe a healthy mind goes hand in hand with good food. We love to cook, and it shows.
We'll happily cook you a delicious meal, vegan, vegetarian, gluten free...
Where we can we use organic ingredients.
And when I am around there will be homemade sourdough buckwheat bread too...

All 9 rooms and 3 flats are named
after a famous MARCEL.
Each room has its private bathroom with shower, sink and toilet. The furniture is custom made, often with recycled material, the sheets are of plain Belgian linen and organic bio-degradable cotton, the cushions stuffed with buckwheat hulls for a healthy sleep.

All light bulbs are LED, our bath products organic and the bathrooms come with water saving toilets and taps.

Buenos Aires, Argentina’s capital, can feel overwhelming. Main thoroughfares like Avenida Santa Fe are noisy and jammed with zooming taxis and groaning buses. The streets can get grimy. But elegance is everywhere and accessible to visitors. Beaux-Arts buildings along Avenida de Mayo recall the grandeur of old Europe. You can find affordable, handcrafted goods at artisan fairs that abound on weekends in neighborhoods like San Telmo, Recoleta and Mataderos. The afterglow of Argentina’s 2022 World Cup victory remains — a spiritual salve for many still suffering from the country’s yearslong inflation crisis. Visitors will find a city where people press on. It is that perseverance that keeps Buenos Aires vibrant and thrilling.
Cafe Notables & Bodegones

Elegant or informal, large or small, impeccable, untidy, messy or of questionable hygiene, the bodegones and bares notables are part of the porteño lifestyle. Within walking distance or a short taxi ride from the hotel are Bar de Cao, Bar Margot, Bodegon Miramar, Cafe de los Angelitos. Our recommendation: Visit at least one !
Great Architecture

I stopped counting the amazing buildings that left me wondering how and why ! If you are into architecture, don't miss out on the Palacio Barolo, the Cathedral, the Palacio de Aguas Corrientes, the Casa Rosada, the C.C.K. , the Usina del Arte...
The two last ones offer a whole range of free concerts too.
